My dad was born in Calgary in 1911. At the time my grandfather worked for the CPR and had a house where the Harry Hayes building is now. His family homesteaded north of Hanna in the 1890s. They came from Wales via Minnesota and supposedly one step ahead of the law after some chicanery at the Chicago World's Fair.
Myself, I was born in Vancouver and raised on the west coast so the rain doesn't bother me. I moved to Calgary in 76 as the town was booming and I had a job and raised my family there. I stayed until 2002. It's a fine city and I have a lot of good memories from there but as I'm getting old, I like the warmer clime.
