Not sure if sarcasm, but it was already mentioned multiple times: HomeGroup. It works from Windows 7 through 10, it sets up everything from file sharing (Docs, Music, Pictures, Videos) to printers.

But it doesn't get used, because all the smart people in this thread fancy themselves as IT professionals and like to do things the difficult way.

Don't get me wrong, so do I... difference being that I actually am one, and don't get all cranky and foot-stompy when I can't figure out basic networking on an operating system where the networking control panel is virtually unchanged since Windows 7. [shrug]
