For sure, Fleury was beloved in Calgary during his time here. I worked at Bonavista Safeway and Fleury would come in almost every Sunday morning (driving his convertible) at crack of dawn to get groceries. I do remember there was an old man mafia that would conveniently camp out at the tables in the mall to oggle him when he came in. Every Sunday was Theo and the old men waiting to go "There he is", "wow what a player", "Best in the NHL I tell ya".
It was super old school Calgary. A bunch of old hockey fan boys in awe but too afraid to say anything past "Hi Theo!". Cool story bra, but will never forget that. That and he was always super nice when he came in. He's had his problems, but I always really liked the guy.
