I hurt my groin jumping off a house boat last year and then started playing soccer a few weeks later and I think my injury had a similar effect to Hudlers by the sounds of it.

It hurt like a bitch when it happened, but it went away pretty much the next day. My second game of the soccer season the exact same pain came back while I was running but only for a few minutes and it continued to flare up during the entire season, every game and even at work and at home from seemingly random movements. I remember there were times where I would just be sitting in bed watching tv and I would just move my leg slightly or do some movement and it would hurt so much that I couldn't move but a few minutes later it would be gone. This didn't stop until I stopped playing soccer and had a break from sports between summer and ski season where it finally healed up. Haven't felt the pain since.

If Hudlers injury is similar then it makes sense that he was trying to play through it cause it's possible as it only hurts for a few minutes at a time and it would explain his seemingly reserved nature. Obviously, he is a professional athlete and not a semi-athletic stoner who plays sports occasionally and doesn't know a proper warm up from the Maccarina, so his tolerance, severity and recovery is probably a lot different but if he does have something like I did, then taking even a month off from exertion should do wonders.

It really fits the bill though.
