Sure, but we're talking about a change in the recent NHL right? So Detroit is adapting to this change.
I also don't know that they've had a prospect that they had held back even when they were ready until Larkin came along. From what I've gathered, he's the first to really force his way on and others weren't quite as clear-cut NHLers
