I'm curious, who would be brought on trial for war crimes 71 years later? And if it happens "in time" who will be brought on trial at that time?

Pretty horrific events in human history for sure. I wasn't alive for another 40 years so I'm not going to claim I have the ability to judge what was going on at the time or those people who acted on what was going on.

With hindsight I can say that WWII was wrong and hope something so horrific never again happens. But, hopefully I'll never be in that situation nor will anyone else on this planet. Quick google shows that upwards of 246,000 people died as a result of the bombs. Sadly I think more have died in the past few years around the world from just as horrific things so it's not like this one event is an outlier other than how it was carried out.

Pretty sad reflection on how awful humanity can be in different circumstances. The blame game is a bit late at this point in time I think. About the only thing I can see being done is learning from the past. Which I think has happened to an extent.
Finally someone with a touch of wit and something new to bring to the discussion. I couldn't agree more, especially with the bolded bits.

However I don't think someone needs to be on trial for something to be recognised as a war crime. Not sure though.
