What I am not for though, is doing the same type of trade two years in a row. It's a coin flip whether the pick is used and that player pans out but it's also a flip if the player you trade for fits and succeeds on the team as well. It's all a 50/50 coin toss. I just like drafting and developing with some consistency.
This year I'd prefer the Flames kept their pick. But I totally get if others would not mind if it was traded for a Drouin type.

The major difference is Hamilton was somewhat proven and we knew for certain it was the 15th pick. Drouin is definitely more of a question mark and the pick is even a bigger question mark. I also agree with the logic but I think this scenario in particular is quite different and has too much risk involved.
