We are told that the Spanos/Davis proposal might have the upper hand because the Chargers owner has been a good soldier in league affairs for years, and a number of owners will back him for that reason. Kroenke, in contrast, is portrayed as a lone wolf. This would be a guess.
-- We are told, by others supposedly in the know, that the league itself would prefer that the Raiders not be part of the L.A. mix. Also speculation, but there’s logic behind this.
After all, while the Raiders have by far the largest existing fan base in SoCal of the three teams, theirs is not considered the clientele that will appeal to corporate interests, much less the one percenters who will be asked to pony up for the Personal Seat Licenses necessary to help fund a new stadium.
