This is the part that confuses me the most. He says he broke up with gf1 in April. In July was living with a female family friend whose husband thought he was into her. By mid October he's engaged. So he'd been with gf2 for, I guess, no more than 2 months before pulling the trigger?
Stranger things have happened I suppose but... hmm...
