I noticed when he set up the gofundme here, the limit was set at $x000 (don't remember specifics, was it 2k?). He said he was going to shut it down and didn't. The number climbed past the limit and he still didn't shut down. I feel like it reached 1.5x and still kept creeping up.
I'm not sure he's the worst person ever. But definitely a doofus and definitely handled this about as poorly as possible. Certainly not a "long con", but probably realized how easy it was to get free money the first time and "went to the well" too often and too readily - especially after some dummy financial decisions following the the influx of cash. Easy come, easy go, and all that (been there). This Christmas thread obviously pushed it too far as it seemed like he was gearing up for some more donations. Lots of shadiness, manipulations, and half-truths.
The sob story about his GF cheating on him isn't relevant and is a plea for sympathy. Ditto the how and why he lost his job (for being such a swell guy). The fact that he bailed and changed his avatar and everything before explaining himself was BS as well. Thought the tone of his response was rather dismissive and unapologetic too. Pretty ####ty.

I only needed a little just so I could get in the apartment. I had a blanket and pillows and I was just going to sleep on the floor until I could get items bit by bit. but with the tremendous outpouring I was able to get items for the house. I didn't realize how much everything was going to cost, I had no towels, bowls etc.. I literally started over fresh. I didn't use the money for anything else except housing stuff.

Buy one towel and one bowl then. One stool to eat at your island. Don't buy a frame, buy a mattress, and so on. Lots of gaps in his response, but I am tired and kinda drunk and no one is reading this far anyways.
