Fires on the exterior cladding of buildings are actually ridiculously common in the UAE, we had another tall building on fire like that in recent months. Today, you can't even tell it happened. A few years back they passed a law stating exterior cladding on skyscrapers had to be fire proof. Lots of wind + lots of cigarette and shisha smokers = a daily fire hazard in this country.

Not sure if that's the case with tonight's fire, but it kinda looks like it. That's the Address in Downtown Dubai, located in the same plaza with Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa. If the fireworks are going ahead, this incident must be pretty well under control by now.
