Maybe I'm off base but I'm even more disappointed in Sean Monahan after that. There's the Ducks captain flying in to protect his teammate and tune Wideman and our future Flames captain, standing passively, giving Getzlaf a hug as he tears Wideman away and then skates away to go passively put a hand on someone not throwing punches.

I think so much of that was unexpected and Monohan had no idea it would escalate to that and even if he did, he literally had 1 second to react. Combine that with the size of Getzlaf and the "softness" of Monohan when it comes to aggression and I am sure he was looking for someone else to grab onto. At the end of the day everyone needs to take someone and Mony - Getzlaf is not something I want to see.
