Nobody is saying it was bad, just that we had already seen this movie for the most part since 1977. Something new will occur in Episode 8 and I expect it will be the best movie to date for the franchise because it will finally be fresh but still properly capture the essence of Star Wars. I suspect they won't do a First Order Strikes Back because the criticism for this film will be that this was A New Hope 2.0, so they'll be forced to carve their own path. And the good news is that A Force Awakens has set things up nicely for a new story with some solid characters and good actors. Now just to execute.
