Yeah I would agree with that. I've been thinking about that a lot lately, I have to believe that Chia would have traded for a defenseman by now if he could, he can't be this dumb.
I tend to think that things not being in a vacuum, that every GM knows how desperate the Oilers are for a defenseman and they're not listening to offers unless they include the names Hall or RNH or first round draft pick.
I'm assuming that the phone gets hung up if the names Eberle, Yak, Schultz, are mentioned.
As much as the Oilers have drafted first overall for so long, outside of Hall, RNH and McDavid, that top 6 is really flawed.
Even Hall outside of one good play in his own zone last night looked extremely disinterested last night and was pretty poor.
With a team with a pretty poor penalty kill and poor in your zone defensive play bringing in a guy like Kassian is like pouring gasoline onto a burning tire fire in the hopes that liquid puts out flames.
Guys like Kassian don't increase team toughness, for the most part it just increases the number of penalty kills you have to do.
