None of the medal favourites are playing today. In fact the four teams playing today would be the teams most likely to be playing in the regulation round on paper.

Tournament notes:

Bruins announced that they will allow Czech forward David Pastrnak to attend the WJC as soon as the NHL roster freeze is lifted on the 28th.

Swiss forward Chris Egli was suspended 3 games for at hit to the head on William Nylander. Will miss the rest of the round robin.

Swiss forward Calvin Thurkauf suspended one game for his hit on Adrian Kempe
