Just got back, here come the first impressions
I was buying this movie at the beginning. Really like the intros to all the major new characters, especially when Kylo held that blaster shot and then let it go. Digged the bb8. I was on board until they ran into Leia and that's when it felt like the fan servicing started and when I started to get pissed off.
All of a sudden the first order has a super weapon. It's not like when the Death Star was the main object of the fourth movie, this thing just appears. Then we have to see a side by side with the original Death Star, just to show how this is bigger and better version. Have a pow wow for three minutes and then come up with a way to destroy it. Does every single Star Wars have to end with them blowing up a battle station? Honestly. At first I thought they would just disable the big gun but then the planet started to hilariously spontaneously combust.
It was very, very similar to ep 4, droid sent out to desert planet for safety, new Jedi apprentice, old mentor gets killed by current bad guy, and battle station blows up. If there's seriously a reveal about someone being someone else's father in the next one then I'd be convinced Disney is just trolling us.
