Its an equally gorgeous drive in the Winter too, but far too risky to drive at night IMO.
I worked up on the icefields three years ago building the new road onto the the glacier.
I'd say from Louise to Sask river crossing is a breeze, after that when you start the ascent, it can get really dicey, so if you get stressed driving in slightly less than desirable conditions you're gonna have a bad time. And the plows are only out during the day, so if you get socked in, you're in for the night. And pray you don't end up camped road side on the narrower stretches of road.
