Poor production quality? The movie is almost 40 years old. It holds up amazingly well.

Yeah Star Wars overall is a franchise that was driven by cool looking characters, plot twists, and state of the art production that hold up even now due to the use of practical effects.
The dialogue and acting was never the greatest (although Leia and Hans did have their moments) but it worked since the characters were likable and so original.
I feel like if anything the original movies are not as good anymore because nothing in them is a surprise anymore. You know that Vader is Luke's father, you know that Leia/Luke are brother and sister, you know Hans/Leia end up together, those surprises were so core to the experience of the movies.
Really the prequel trilogies were bad because they missed on all three of these points, it wasn't that the overall plot/story/dialogue was any worse. Nothing was a surprise because we knew where it was going, none of the new characters were very likable, and the over use of CGI made the movies age really poorly.
