Exactly, he'll give them less next year, and more after that. I think that'd be a good thing for all involved. The Flames will need a decent goalie next year. Plus the top line needs a decent right winger to replace Hudler and/or Jones. Johnny and Sean know these things too. They will want the team to be competitive next year, and they will understand that their bridge deals will allow that.
P.S. Good GM's manage their cap space. Good GM's look at all options at their disposal, including bridge deals.
