Niemi has always been the better goalie if you're going to spitball comparisons with Ramo. And that's a massive "what if" when it comes to Ramo getting hot.
I wouldn't bet anything of value on that happening on any sort of consistent basis.
At the end of the day, if Hudler plays extremely well heading into the deadline, the return just gets that much better and you can build foundation of the Flames stronger by moving him. We'll see what happens, but moving Hudler regardless of the teams standing is a valid argument that I would have never though I would agree with. Honestly. But here we are, and the pros to moving him really do outweigh the cons right now looking from my eyes.
I cannot convey ho much of a Hudler homer I am. But moving him makes sense every way possible.
EDIT: I just read your draft pick argument too. Kind of moot as having that roster spot open for young up and comers like Poirier, Granund, Jankowski or whoever is rising up the farm ranks will get it over ny draft pick the Flames potentially get in return. Those guys also deserve to have a shot too. And Granlund has made a very solid statement that the future is now and Hudlers spot (regardless of position) is going to be filled competently.
