You are thinking of Ted Morton. JBR is correct.

But Jim Dinning would be my bet for the next leader of the Conservatives. Dinning has been quietly amassing a warchest to take on the leadership when Klein steps aside, which will likely happen in 2006 or 2007(after the centennial).

Leading the Conservatives pretty much means Dinning would be the next premier because I can't see a serious challenge for government coming from the Liberals or the NDP at this point. The Alberta Alliance party is too far to the right (and it's current leader is a nut) to gain popular vote.
