As a further aside. 1/8th of NB residents are employed by the Irvings. Who run New Brunswick like a feudal state - you'd think the largest employer being an oil company would be good for the locals. Uh uh. I was out in St John last month - not one high end car. I saw an Audi A7 in Halifax. Even there, not a single AMG badge, no M5s, nothing. During the 1st intermission of the Moosehead game, they drove an R8 around for a lap. Everybody ooh'd.
On my drive from Halifax to St John, I hit a pothole on the highway so substantial it threw me off cruise control. And once I saw I didn't have a blowout, I wasn't even mad. It would be great if they fixed it, but with what money? Nobody lives there, and the people that do don't have any money.

The front page of the local St John paper proudly declared a "whopping $4.6M" is in the new budget for road improvements this year. It did this right under a story that said private firms with government contracts will be expected to actually do the work they were paid for.

There is nowhere near the corporate support to host an NHL franchise in New Brunswick, and there is not a chance the local population could actually afford to go. There's also not a chance any young high profile athlete would want to spend his career in New Brunswick.
