Me and my friends would use the Cecil as the foundation drunk before heading down to Electric ave. It was never that bad at that time, every bar had it's idiots, there were more idiots on Electric ave than in the confines of the Cecil. I don't think the Cecil was the actual problem, the location of the low income housing in relation to the Cecil was the problem. Want stats? Everytime I drive by the Calgary homeless shelter, the cops are there, should we close that down to?
The worst bar back then was the National down off of 9th ave. The bartender would tell you not to go for a pee alone, take a buddy or you might not come back from the can.
