Our PK wasn't great last year either and finished 20th in the league in a year where everything seemed to go our way.
What is your concern with the system that is Gelinas' responsibility? I remember reading a Score article from last offseason highlighting the effectiveness of the Flames PK, despite mediocre results. His reasoning was that the Goaltending save % was the worst in the league on shorthanded despite the fact that they had middling PK numbers. Then he went on to highlight small things do to take away space at crucial areas of ice on entry.

So is this a systems problem? A coaching problem? I'd like to know how you can say that with any certainty, especially to the point where you are wanting to fire the reigning Adams winner as well as an Asst. Coach that I have heard nothing but rave reviews from.

I think that our PP/PK is coming down to face-offs, goaltending, and tentativeness, and a small dose of bad luck. We are becoming more confident on entry and doing a better job with that, but we don't have the pk swagger where you feel confident to close on the puck at key areas of the ice. It is a perfect storm that they can dig out of as they have other aspects of their game. Definitely not any justification for anyone being fired.
