It will be interesting to see what Treliving does if the Flames are in a playoff spot or extremely close at the deadline. Last year he moved Glencross because Glennie was pushed out of the top 6 and it was clear he and the team were ready to move on. I believe he was moved to make room for Ferland which turned out to be a great decision as Ferly was a beast in the playoffs.
With Hudler I currently do not see a forward that can take his spot in the top 6. In fact I think this team needs to add a top 6 forward. Both Hudler and Jones find themselves as the top 2 RW on the team now so this will be an interesting deadline.
The Flames do have defensive depth where I could see Russell shipped out of the return is right. Smid has come back and looked pretty good and he also adds size which is needed against the Kings/Ducks who are the likely teams the Flames would have to face in the first couple of rounds of they make it.
Having said all of that if Hudler can somehow get a 1st round pick the Flames need to pull the trigger as another 1st is a huge asset to take to the draft
