Disagree. The Fayne / Greene pairing is a very solid 2nd pairing on a good team, and at times were in sneaky first pairing quality territory - no one of course noticed, because they played for the Devils and weren't big point producers. But that was absolutely a good unit and if you can get a guy who acts as a solid 2nd pairing guy for $3.5 per, you do it.
Of course, this is purely from a hockey management perspective, not taking into account the financial situation in NJD.
