Agreed, the thought of a USL club excites me more than any talk of MLS. It's a realistic step up which would avoid the scenario that the Storm had by moving up a division too early, then folding. Also, building a stadium that can support USL soccer is much more realistic for a youth club. With Foothills building a new indoor/outdoor facility next year, it could mean this city actually has a soccer specific stadium with more than a few hundred bleachers.
Plus, to show my bias, I like that the coaching staff knows me by name and asks myself and other supporters to present awards to players at the end of the year.
