That being said - we've only had it for about a year, so I can't really comment on longevity. Thing is a beast though, terrifies my dogs haha.

That longevity is basically the difference between a Vitamix and a Ninja, as they both seem to their job well enough. The Vitamix is made in the US, and the vast majority of the parts are made from steel. The Ninja is made in China and comprised of lower-quality parts, a lot of them being plastic. There's a reason the Ninja is a lot cheaper, and not all of it is because the Vitamix has brand cache.
I think if you're a casual blender user, a Ninja will do the job. But if you're the type of person who uses a blender every day, and want it to last for many years, then it makes sense to invest in the Vitamix.
