The young guns era gets a little unfairly piled on at times. Yes there were bad teams but those teams never (okay that Gilbert year was pretty bad) played as bad as the Flames have in the Hartley era (minus one year) and while in the early years of those times the roster was garbage but the current group of young prospects on the team right now will be hard pressed to have the success of Iginla, Stillman, Savard, Lydman, Regehr, Conroy, Morris, etc. all went on to in their careers. The only difference between today and say 2000 was that in those days building through losing and drafting wasn't as accepted as it is today.
