Someone wil call me out on this I'm sure, but if a downtown location was not in the cards, it would have been good to see it go up where the Zoo parking / TELUS World of Science is . . . Good access via transit (Memorial Drive, Deerfoot acess), two stops out of downtown (easy access to and from the core), and plenty of visibility via passing volume. Not to mention you get other Calgary tourist locations in the same vicinity. Not sure the other side of Deerfoot (Fire Park) would have been that accessible or desirable.
That said, I still think the West Village is the best location.
