Agreed -- it was like, "surprise, I'm your son and we're not so bad!" and your character just kind of accepts it and is cool with it. No big cool quest, no climactic fight -- you just kind of start doing missions for them. End of story. Meh -- maybe more interesting things will happen throughout the faction quests but we'll see. A bit discouraging.

See this meeting pissed me off because the game conditions you to shoot first when you have an inkling that a confrontation will go hostile. Kellogg, hunting the courser, chem deal, the Big Dig with Bobbi, saving Nick from the gangsters, etc. It goes better if you just ignore the dialogue duel and start blowing people's heads off. So I meet this guy labeled with the name "Father" and shoot him in the head. Hey, I thought he had turned my son into some defective robot locked in a cell to manipulate like a puppet. Turns out he's not essential and the entire institute goes hostile.
