Exactly this. If they couldn't handle being put in a position of having to battle for their job and all three failed, then all three are not exactly endearing themselves to management for the long term. You want to have someone take the reigns and show the coaching staff that this is my net, and I don't care who else is here. None of them did that, and they all performed quite terribly when given a shot. At this rate, I would not be overly disappointed if at this point next season that all three players are no longer in the organization, with Ortio being the only one giving me pause.
That doesn't mean things can't change, but it does change the equation of what needs to be done with the goalie situation moving forward. I would not be shocked at all if the Flames make a play for a legitimate #1 goalie between now and the start of the season next year, either through trade or through free agency.
