I only caught part of the Doug McLean piece on Kris Russell prior to the game last night, but it looked like he was showing examples of Kris Russell trying to block (and completely screening) Ortio in the MTL-CGY game on a number of goals.
Ortio hasn't been great by any standard, but he's had 2 games and hasn't looked much worse than Hiller.
Not sure why they didn't send Hiller down for conditioning and see how he's recovering from the injury. By numerous accounts, Hartley doesn't even like Hiller and if he struggles in Stockton, waive him with no real concern for losing an asset.
The playoffs are pretty much out of reach and Hiller and Ramo should be as good as gone after this season. Why not keep a young goalie around who can serve as a back up next year to whoever the Flames bring in as a #1?
I'm concerned about how the coach and the GM seem to be on different sides of a goalie debate that includes 2 duds on expiring contracts. Their inability to pick one and go with it has (IMHO) been a major contributor to the team issues this year.
