Similarities being... what? His nationality and goaltending coach. There was a stretch when Irving played lights out for the Flames as well and he was being anointed with the title of Kiprusoff's replacement. Keeping someone on the team because there is the chance that he could three years from now be valuable is poor asset management and a long shot at best.
