Been watching them quite a bit as I stacked Ducks in my fantasy pool (lol)
Perry has looked good. But he keeps hitting posts. Can't catch a break. Just snake bit, not going in for him.
Getzlaf looks lost, slow, out of it. Just not there. Doesn't look like an elite player in the league.
Kesler looks bad. Bad. Out of position, can't carry the puck into the zone without getting stripped, plays die on his stick. He takes dumb frustrated penalties. Still crushes faceoff wins though.
Bieksa has been not good, but not horrible either. Mediocre. Which for the ducks right now is like 'wow he's good'
Vatanen is still going all offense. Hell of a shot. Most deadly thing on the PP still. Look out for that. Defensively, he's not great.
Andersen was stellar earlier in the season. Stellar. He was standing on his head every game and they were still losing. His game slipped a bit recently but he was still playing well IMO. So we catch a break getting Khudobin (who has also been decent, not amazing, but gives them a chance to win).
The ducks have been getting thoroughly outplayed in the games I've seen. Running around in their own zone. Giving up tons of quality chances/shots. They break out, hit the opposition blue line, and turn it over. Spend the next 40s in their zone chasing the puck.
They remind me....of us. But I think we've started looking better every game. Ducks have not progressed. Every game they look the same as the one before. And now their tending has started to fail too. They look broken and confused.
So tonight either
A) we take it to them, and pounce on their current broken state. Easy win. Break the curse. Flames keep rolling, look out!
or
B) we do what we do best...slump bust them. Perry and Getz get going, and Khudobin stands on his head, and the Ducks finally start looking like their old selves.
I'm cautiously optimistic it'll be A
