Hamonic could be the next Bouwmeester. It's a gamble any time you bring a new player in to a new system. Hamilton is way better suited to the Flames active D strategy than Hamonic and he's still got way more development left whereas Hamonic is 3 years further down the road.
Even with the struggles to start the year clouding it a bit, the broad consensus across the league seems to be that Hamilton has a higher ceiling than Hamonic and higher value - also three years younger. I don't think the 1.2 million cap difference anywhere near evens out the value.
NYI would have to chip in one of their 4 or 5 blue chip prospects (with a mid range asset coming back from the flames) or else why would the Flames even bother? Walk away or make it worth our while.
Hamonic and Strome/Dal Colle/Pulock/Barzal packaged and you start talking about moving one of your better Dmen. Otherwise, no point as it's just a lateral (or worse) move.
