I'm wondering if stapling Ortio to the bench is a way of lowering his stock in order to sneak him through waivers when Hiller gets back. Maybe they are hoping that the terrible game he played scares other teams away from claiming him. I can't see how they are planning on solving this any other way. Neither Ramo nor Hiller has any trade value at this point, and I seriously doubt Treliving is prepared to bury either of them in the minors.
Regardless of what the plan is, it sure must suck to be Joni Ortio right now.
