If it's used like it is in other airports I've seen, isn't it driven around by staff who actually need to go some where and they pick up people (usually elderly or those who might have a hard time walking long distances) on their way?
As long as they put in those moving walkway things, the distance will be fine for an average person. The airport is still pretty small.
