The window for winning for the Flames is still 2-3 years out. trading Gio's contract for a 25 yr old bonafide top 4 on a great contract that fits that window is definitely something the flames should be doing.
Have we learned nothing from the Iginla scenario. Keeping players past their prime when the rest of the team isn't ready is counter productive to building a winning team.

The optics of trading Gio right now are so bad I can't see the Flames doing it. I am honestly not totally against the idea of trading Gio for Hamonic but I want a fairly decent + included. 1 for 1 that deal is a huge win for the Isles including age of both players.
I just don't see any way the Flamea brass even contemplates it. Treliving praised Gio as being the pulse of the team. Burke puts Gio on the same level as Pronger when it comes to leadership.
