Between other 2008 draft picks Hamonic and Josi, we're lucky that they signed the deals they did as Brodie is most comparable to them and they were on great contracts.
Hamonic's playstyle isn't really comparable to Brodie or Russell. His value is very clearly closer to Brodie's though.

I agree that was the comparable for Brodie, before last season.
You have to ask yourself if you would trade those players straight across for each other. Brodie for Josi? Yeah, those guys are probably a wash. I don't think Hamonic is the same type of player. That doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't hold similar value on a team, but their contracts, and assets needed to trade for, will probably always be different. But again, I don't know much about Hamonic and more just interested in the discussion.
I DO think Brodie is a special player though. There's not much in the league I would trade him for.
