Russell has cleared waivers and was dealt for a 5th round recently. Hamonic has been the leading defenseman for two years on a play-off team. He is also younger and on a good deal versus a UFA. I don't see how they are comparable at all.
Russell and Wideman are close to Hamonic in value on their own and as package it makes little sense to the Isles who have 7 d on their team already.
