I simply don't see how the Oilers make a good trade if the Islanders expect a competent replacement for Hamonic. The Jets and Flames are the two Western Canadian teams that have the assets on the blue line to pull it off.

I would trade Giordano straight across for him. Saves the Flames cap room and rids the team of what will be a bad contract in three years. As for the Islanders I imagine their mandate is to win now and Gio can help there better than any defenseman most teams could offer.
