The other question is, if this is affecting him so much that he needs to be closer to home, is it also affecting his play? I haven't watched much Islanders hockey this year, but it looks like his offensive stats have dropped off a lot. And they weren't as good to begin with as I thought...
To me, a first pairing defenseman in today's NHL should be putting up at least .5 points per game. His contract is cheap, but to me he looks more like a 2nd pairing guy based on the numbers. I only have heard good things about his play though, so maybe he makes up for it with his defensive play.
