The Leaf players are actually engaging the opposing players in their own zone, boxing guys out and pushing guys off the puck, unlike many of the Flames players (especially the defencemen) who mostly just skate around but don't really close the gap that well and use a weak stick check or just stand around and hope to block a shot or intercept a pass.

And throwing a bodycheck in the defensive zone (especially defencemen behind the net) every once in a while wouldn't hurt...
