We need a top 6 player who can do those things, though I admit Smith could be very useful if all goes well (a bigger, much less talented Ferland). I just can't shake the feeling that he never would've even been drafted if he was even 4 inches shorter. Are those 4 inches really that important when it comes down to it? 6'3" is big and pretty easily found throughout the league if you're looking for generic 4th liners. Smith's biggest hope in becoming a generic 4th liner likely comes down to just how much a GM covets those 4 extra inches IMO.
