See... here's the thing. Regardless of the motives of either, one plan swiftly alleviates the suffering of a vulnerable group while the other delays it.

You mean the suffering of the vulnerable group of 129 killed and 350-400 wounded in Paris?
These people are not just a number, they are all individually important, having
effective security is the right thing to do. The debate should be around how to best to select the refugees, how best to screen the refugees and how much time that will take. Its certainly very shortsighted and political to set an abstract timetable and then violate every security guideline that was previously put in place.
Let me make it clear that the refugees who came in earlier waves were also screened, Hungarian and Czech refugees who came to Canada in 1956 and 1968 were heavily screened(many were rejected) for AVO and SID membership, German nationals were screened for Nazi connections(even those who claimed to be jews) after WW2. This is nothing new, its just a lot more difficult because of the lack of records.
