That part shouldn't be an issue. Just tell them you're an Emerald Club member, show your card, and they
should have no problem with that. National staff have been pretty good whenever I've rented from them.
But yeah, skipping the counter on a non-EC reservation is probably a no go. I hate standing in line at the counter lol, and whenever I rent a car, the line always seems to be a few people long, so I try to go with National whenever I can.
