I just see a guy who has never pushed for a roster spot on the big club.
Max Reinhart I viewed in the same way. If the guy isn't ever going to crack the club, you want to move that guy before everyone elses realizes the same thing. He's from the same draft class as Reinhart and Ferland, and he looks a hell of a lot more like a Reinhart than he does a Ferland.
If he has value out there, I don't see the point in protecting him. Maybe he has no value though? I dunno. Some Flames fans seem to love him but I've never understood why.
