Bumping this thread for a 3:45 am vent session since I'm up thinking about it.
My sister is getting married in the summer. She and her fiancée can't afford to get married where they really want to (in town or in the mountains). So, they've decided to get married in Mexico at an all-inclusive, passing the costs on to us. We're going either way, because #### it it's not my wedding I don't call the shots here. It'll be a fun vacation I'm sure, but a little frustrated as it takes up spare savings that we would have used to fix up things around the house. My wife is livid about it as we just finished spending a large sum of money and a lot of time in planning to have our own wedding in Calgary so that family and friends could all be there, and she thinks it's a cop out.
We have another destination wedding the year after in Mexico for my wife's best friend, but the bride is Guatemalan and chose that option so that much of her side of the family could be there. Different scenario and one that I am much more accepting of.
