The anti-taxi hyperbole here is beyond belief. I have had 100s of taxi rides, at all hours, over the last 3 or 4 years, and really have not had a single bad experience in Calgary. Limited supply at peak hours may be an issue, but how bad can it be? I caught a cab from Bridgeland to 17th Ave last weekend at 1 in the morning. For a $12 fare, the driver was extremely courteous and professional

It reiterates my original point is that people who like Uber have an irrationally negative preconception of the taxi industry based on long-standing (and fair) complaints that are now magnified intensely because the arrival of a subsidized and illegal service designed to precisely match people's magnified irrational dislike of the taxi industry. Uber is a short-run tautology and a long-run disaster.
